This week’s news from Instagram is chock-full of cider festivals. It is fall, so we expect nothing less in our cider community! We also have cideries stepping up to the plate to help their local communities recover after the storm.

Cider Week Virginia

Clear out your schedule in November, Virginia cider-lovers! Cider Week Virginia is coming back your way for another installment of week-long cider fun. From November 9-18, you can expect to see Virginia’s cider-making royalty coming out to participate in cider pairings, tours, and plenty of tastings. The week kicks off with a Blue Bee Cider tasting at Cork & Kegs in Richmond. Be sure to take a half-day off from work on Friday, November 16, and head over to Albermarle Ciderworks in North Garden for the Virginia Cider Smackdown, which will take place from 2-6 p.m. Cideries will be competing in a blind cider tasting — an event you won’t want to miss. Windswept Orchard Cider

The autumn harvest is upon us, and everyone is getting into the spirit. Plenty of people came out to celebrate urban-style last weekend at the City Cider 2018 in Toronto. Plenty of cideries were in attendance, including Windswept Orchard Cider, Two Blokes Cider, and Duxbury Cider Co. Held at the historic Spadina Museum, City Cider 2018 was not just any festival —this was one with a purpose. All of the proceeds from City Cider 2018 will go directly towards supporting Not Far From The Tree’s fruit picking and sharing program. The funds allow the program to train more volunteers and to continue hosting educational workshops. Read more on how you can help donate to this amazing cause.

Ladies and Gentlemen: Prepare yourself for some wiener puppy cuteness! Next Saturday, September 29, Wolff’s Biergarten in Albany, NY will host the much-anticipated 10th Annual Oktoberfest. Local roads will be shut down, and the vendors will be ready for the crowds to descend at this always entertaining event. Oktoberfest 2018 will kick off with the Oktoberfest 5K, and great news for all participating runners: After you finish the race, you’ll have full access to all of the Oktoberfest festivities! (Be sure to bring a change of clothing, though… Seriously! The other festival-goers will thank you!) And, we think the best part of this event will be the Wiener Dog Races! Kicking off at 1 p.m., registration is wide open for you to sign up your wiener pup to participate in this adorable event. But, hurry: There is a 50 dog maximum. Plus: If you do plan on entering your pup, post a picture on your Instagram of your pooch and tag @ninepincider. They will vote on their favorite wiener pup picture and the owners will receive a day of free cider! Oktoberfest tickets will be available the day of the event for $20, but you can buy your discounted event tickets here for $15. So, pull those lederhosen out of your closet and get ready for some fun!
Bold Rock Hard Cider

Join Bold Rock Mills River this Sunday, September 23, as the Bold Rock Cider team helps support the victims of Hurricane Florence. For every pint of cider sold this Sunday, $1 will go to aid and support the families and animals affected by the severe flooding. The Pender County Humane Society and The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina will receive all of the donations, as they continue their effort in aiding those suffering. Bold Rock will also be hosting a donation drive for supplies the families need. Way to keep the giving vibes alive, Bold Rock!

If you are a resident of Montana, next Friday kicks off a fun week in your community: September 28 is the start of Montana Cider Week, which will include over 30 events across the state to celebrate the local cider community. Events like the Big Fork Cider Fest on September 29 and the Lockhord Orchard Party will help round out what is set to be a great week. Tap takeovers will be happening across the state, so keep your eyes peeled for some delicious local cider!
